An Interview with Bhoomika
( Source : www.cinesouth.com )

A spell of success in her very second venture "Kushi", cast opposite a leading hero Pavan Kalyan, she is all set to make it big in Telugu Cinema. Bhoomika has no airs about her newly attained stardom. She's simple, yet elegant. With her graceful movements, warm smile and a great blockbuster movie to her credit, Bhoomika has carved a niche for herself in the hearts of many. She is paired opposite hero Venkatesh, in her forthcoming film "Vasu". Quite a sensation already, Bhoomika is definitely here to stay.
Here are some excerpts from an interview with the "Kushi" girl:

Did you expect "Kushi" to become such a big hit during the making of the film?
Yes, to some extent, I did. The film appealed mostly to the youth. Secondly, Pavan was the hero of the film and the script was also different.

Was "Kushi" your debut film?
No, I did "Yuvakudu" with Sumanth as the hero, which was directed by Mr.Karunakaran. But it did not do well at the box-office.

 When is your birthday?
21st of August

What are your hobbies?
Reading and listening to music.

What was your career before joining films?
Well, I was a professional model. I worked in about fifteen ad-films.

What do you like the most about yourself?
My straightforwardness.

Your weakness
Too much of mercy and pity towards others.

Your assets
My eyes.

About your favourite heroines?
There are so many of them. And each heroine is special in her own way. I like Rekha a lot. I also like Urmila Matondkar. She looked simply stunning in "Rangeela".

Tell us about your experience working with Pavan Kalyan
He's really a gem of a person. In contrast to his happy-go-lucky filmy-image, he's very hardworking and highly talented. He also knows the technical aspects of film-making.

About hero Venkatesh
I worked with him for a very few days only I've great respect towards him and appreciate him a lot.

Any tiffs with any heroine in the industry?
So far, none. Basically, I'm not the kind to quarrel with anyone.

By the way, is Bhoomika your real name?
"[Smiles]. No. They call me 'Kutiya' at home," says Bhoomika brimming over with confidence.

Khushi girl, Bhoomika is the hottest stuff of the Tinsel World, today.

She is equally popular in Tamil as well.

She is the latest import to South from the North like many of her senior heroines.

Bhoomika is not seeing the movie offers in numbers to sign but for quality of the subject.

Currently she is busy in Telugu and Tamil and thinking of an entry into Bollywood She is vibrant, slim and beautiful.

She is popular for her excellent performance in Khushi.

Though her first movie, Yuvakudu is a debacle she has compensated with the Super success of Khushi.

Here is an interview with Bhoomika exclusively for you.

Many Many Happy returns of 21st August, your birthday!

 Thank you very much.

What is your birthday resolution?

I would like to live to the expectations of my fans in particular and audiences in general.

What is your feeling after coming towards South?

I feel Khushi, naturally, after the success of Khushi, in Telugu. To be frank, I was optimistic while coming to South. Khushi has proved, I was right.

What were you before entering in to Tinsel World?

Basically I am a model. I did, not less than a dozen ad films. Fair & Lovely is so popular in those. I worked for few albums as well.

Do you feel modeling has inspired you to appear on Silver Screen?

Some extent, Yes! However there is a lot difference between both. Modeling perfected me to a great extent. Naturally it is become the launching pad to Silver Screen.

Who is your role model in Cinema Field?

I do not know whether I have a role model or not in Cinema Field. But, certainly I have my favorite actress, Urmila. She really fascinated me with her Rangeela performance. She is versatile and marvelous.

I heard you have a high degree of self-confidence, what makes you to feel so?

My family background gives me basic confidence. My smiling face and Easy Going Mind-set further strengthen confidence in me.

What is your family background?

My father and Elder brother are in Defence Service. Elder sister got married. I am the youngest of the family and living with my mother, currently.

You enjoy absolute freedom at home, aren't you?

Of course, Yes! However, I really enjoy when I am in the company of my Dad, Mom, Brother, Vadina, Sister and Baava during vacation I always wait for a vacation to make a big fun with all my family members.

Are you that much attached to your family?

Yes, Very much. As I am youngest of the family everyone is forced to bear my Mischief. I am Kutia of my family.

What is your first movie in Telugu?

My first movie in Telugu is 'Yuvakudu'. I could not get much fame with it as audiences didn't receive it well.

What about your current movies?

I am doing Snehamante Idera with Nagarjuna in Samudra's direction. I am fortunate really to have my third movie itself with Nag.

I have signed another movie with Mahesh Babu in Gunasekhar's Direction. I am doing a movie in Tamil with Srikanth, Sasi's directs.

I heard you have acted in Tamil version of Badri. Is it true?

Yes, you are correct. I acted in a Tamil movie, 'Badri' with Vijay. But it is a remake of Thammudu but not Telugu 'Badri'. It is a big hit too.

What happened to Manirathnam's movie? You have lost it, people say.

Nothing. I have not signed any movie for Manirathnam. I do not know anything of that sort. Incase a director wants Bhoomika for a specific role he will book me Otherwise No. That's all.

Your Love with Surya is responsible, say, Chennai sources, is it true?

Who said I love Surya. All trash. Just because I appear with someone, somewhere doesn't mean that I love that someone.

Are you condemning news of your Love with Surya?

Yes, Certainly. This is nothing but a gossip.

Do you like modern dresses most, as you appear mostly in such dresses?

Not-at-all. I like a Saree, best. But rarely directors ask me to wear.

Are you ready for an exposure?

No. I do not believe that exposure gets offers. I would like to be a glamorous artiste but not an exposing artiste.

What do you think of Pavan Kalyan?

He is unique. I have never seen a person of that sort. He appears as an easygoing guy but very serious about things to a minute level.

He has perfect grip on the subject. Everyone knows it. He is really great.

Can you please tell your fans about your hobbies?

My hobbies are two. One reading good books and the other, listening to Melodious music. I will be away from his world if have these two.

Last but not least, what is your ambition?

I want to win a National Award for Best Actress after winning the hearts of audiences. With the support and appreciation of colleagues of Cinema field.

Bye, Kutia.
Bye, See you again

Up close with Bhumika

No wonder Bhumika Chawla reckons her eyes to be her major asset. Like a wondrous kaleidoscope, they throw up emotional patterns in rich resplendence. There is a vulnerable beauty to her that you wonder what is somebody like her doing in the world of films.
But Bhumika does not have any existential angst. She is simple and enjoys what she is doing. Her only credo in life is, give your best and enjoy your work. Despite the not so successful run of Vasu (she is paired with Venky), she is still cheerful.
Little wonder then that she is quickly moving up the popularity chart in both Telugu and Tamil.
A quick chat with the svelte beauty:
Q: Is acting your first career?
Ans: No, I came here through the ad film route. Modelling was my first career. I had done about 15 ad films. It was a good learning curve.
Q: How did films happen?
Ans: For almost all models, films are just next door. It is a natural ally.
Q: Your first film?
Ans: Yuvakudu with Sumanth. It was director Karunakaran who gave me the break. It was a very good film. Though it did not strike it rich at the box office, it gave me a nice little opening.
Q: How about Kushi? That is perhaps the most talked about film in recent times.
Ans: Frankly, everybody knew that it would be major success. Not just because it was a remake of a Tamil hit. The script was taut and the story contemporary. More than that, Pawan Kalyan's presence added lustre to the final product.
Q: How do you manage to act in both Tamil and Telugu films?
Ans: Actually, there is no problem. There is very little difference between the two in terms of acting. And anyway, I use a dubbing voice (giggles).
Q: Your goals?
Ans: Nothing. To act well and carve a name for myself. That's about it.
Q: Your strengths and weaknesses?
Ans: The answer to both is same - my honesty and straight forwardness.

Bhoomika denies her love
Bhoomika is deeply worried and is in a sober mood. She has been surrounded with a lot of gossips and rumours about her love life.
When asked about her love life, Bhoomika had tears in her eyes (not the glycerine type nor the crocodile tears) and narrated her tale of woe, sniffing all the while.

She said, " I swear I don't have any one special nor am I dating anyone. Just because I acted in Surya Productions movie everyone framed out a story and said that there was something going on between the actor and me. I even acted in Rojakootam with Srikanth and everyone got excited with another story that I am involved him. With my career growth this has been bothering me a lot."
"There was never any romance nor am I involved with any one at the moment. I am single and I hope to remain the same for sometime atleast. I will be not be affected with such statements or rumours and I am used this sort of gossips." (So why is the woman crying ???)
It was also said that Bhoomika spoke curtly with everyone of late. She told the interview team that she has loads of Telugu films for acting and hopes to remain in Tamil films. We had so many questions...we wanted to enquire her more but because of the incessant tears, we decided otherwise.
Get married in the right muhurath
